ASUS Review ZenFone 4 Max Pro: Large Battery, Wide Camera

By | 20 October 2017

Metal bodies are more interesting. You will not see a drastic difference when comparing ZenFone 4 Max Pro and ZenFone 3 Max designs. The dimensions of the screen are 5.5 inches, the body is still made of metal, but now the fingerprint sensor that was in the back has been moved to the front blend with the Home button.

With so the rear body ZenFone 4 Max Pro so much simpler is not disturbed box-shaped sensor like the one on ZenFone 3 Max. One other thing that makes interesting is the camera behind there are two. Its presence seems to give the impression that the ZenFone 4 Max Pro is a smartphone up and down.

Competing hardware. ASUS is like trying to play it safe and does not want to damage the market. This is reflected in the hardware suite Snapdragon 430, 3 GB RAM, and 32 GB of storage that is very reasonable to present on a smartphone worth Rp2 million to Rp3 million. Other brands are so, except Xiaomi.

Of course the specification is not bad because it is still very qualified for multitasking at this time, unless it runs heavy games. And the entry-level specification like this is arguably the most optimized for ZenFone 4 Max Pro because it will not be too greedy power.

5,000 mAh battery. Although not the highest, the capacity of 5000 mAh battery for a smartphone is very sufficient. This capacity is even larger than 900 mAh of ZenFone 3 Max. ASUS claims its powerful battery up to 46 days to standby with 4G network.

While from the tests we did using one active 4G SIM card, ZenFone 4 Max Pro can continue to live for 30 hours with an eight-hour screen-on-time. For information, we use it for social media, intensive browsing, and playing Clash Royale online games for an hour.

Not to miss, you can also help others who are in difficult conditions because of running out of smartphone battery. The trick is by transferring power to another smartphone. Yes, with reverse charging technology, ZenFone 4 Max Pro can function as a powerbank with 1A power transfer rate.

Free casing and OTG cable. If you really want to make ZenFone 4 Max Pro as powerbank, there are accessories that we need, that is OTG cable. Fun ASUS has included this cable, so we do not need to buy anymore. In addition to the OTG cable, there is also a transparent jelly case included.

Dual-camera. All ZenFone 4 smartphone series are equipped with dual-camera, including ZenFone 4 Max Pro. ASUS pinned the 16 MP f / 2.0 PDAF main camera and a 5 MP wide angle 120 degree secondary camera. This wide angle camera is fun to capture the moment of traveling because it can certainly load more objects in the lens.

The quality of the 16 MP main camera is not disappointing because it is sharp in various conditions. Even so with a 16 MP front camera plus a sharp flash and beautify equipped.

Triple-slot. This trivial one is certainly going to be fun for entry-level smartphone users. Yes, the presence of three separate slots will make us relieved to use two SIM cards and microSD simultaneously.

Length of charge is less fast. The length of time required to fully charge the ZenFone Max series smartphone battery has become commonplace. And to fully charge the ZenFone 4 Max Pro battery takes three hours. So we personally more often fill the battery while left to sleep because it will not overcharge.

A wide angle camera is just a bonus. Our expectation of wide angle cameras brought by ZenFone 4 Max Pro is not as expected. Because the resolution is only 5 MP, practical details of the image so very low when viewed from the PC screen let alone print large size. This is not felt if only seen from a small smartphone screen.
